Episcopal Day School Turns Bus into Mobile Classroom

Bus

Episcopal Day School (EDS) and its Parent Association have integrated Wi-fI technology into one of its school buses to expand opportunities for learning and collaborative projects to students.

EDS worked with Verizon to install wireless technology to convert its bus to a mobile classroom and hotspot. This innovative solution turns travel time into productive class time, as well as providing an internet hotspot while students are working off campus engaged in real world projects..

EDS Headmaster Dr. Ned Murray says, "Like a 21st century Ms. Frizzle's Magic School Bus, our newly networked bus provides an important connection between the worlds in which our students travel. At our Flowing Wells experiential campus, EDS students are engaged in the real, natural world: growing food, conducting water research, and studying earth, life, and physical sciences outdoors. The bus provides an important connection to the cyber world in two ways: 1) turning transit time into a rolling classroom and 2) providing an internet hotspot while they're in the field."

As a 1:1 and Google Apps for Education (GAFE) school, EDS has positioned itself at the forefront of integrating technology in the classroom in the area.
